This is possible by putting in a Lock Date which brings up a warning if anyone tries to update or post an item and only allow them if they have access. They can still produce Invoices, Sales or Purchase orders.
You can add a Lock Date -> Settings -> Lock Date -> Enter the Lock Posting Date -> OK
There are several checks you should run before you are ready for Year End:
Ensure all transactions up to year end date are entered into Sage Line 50C – including any adjustments from your Accountant or Auditor from previous years Accounts.
Check all your nominal codes are correct and not duplicated or any missing – this is done in Nominal Codes -> Chart of Accounts -> Check and any errors will show up here
As part of the Year End you should also run a Check Data -> File -> Maintenance -> Check Data – any issues will appear here.
Now it is time to run your Reports -> Customers -> Reports -> Select Report you want -> Preview -> Print
Finally, you should run a Trial Balance and the Debits should always Equal the Credits -> Nominal Codes -> Trial Balance -> Preview -> Run -> Choose Period -> OK. This can then be printed, saved or emailed.
Tools -> Period End -> Year End -> Check Data -> Fix any errors -> Close -> Check CoA (Chart of Accounts) -> OK -> Backup -> OK -> OK
You can now choose to Archive your data by ticking the Archive box
This is also a good time to set budgets for the following year if required by ticking the Budgets box and filling the budgets required
Check the Year End Date is correct -> Enter Lock Date if required -> Run Year End -> Yes -> OK -> Select the Report Format you want -> OK -> OK
This is a perfect time to do an annual clean up and clear out old data.

Remove old invoices or orders: Open the relevant Module (i.e. Quotation, Invoices and Credits, Sales Orders, Purchase Orders) -> Select the item to want to remove -> Delete -> Yes
Compress your Data allows you to create more space but it is important to take a backup before you start this process:-> File -> Maintenance -> Compress Data -> Compress all Data Files -> Tick the boxes for the files you want to compress -> Compress -> OK -> Close -> Close
